AFC Europe Supports Learning for People with Disabilities

At AFC Europe, we care for our people and we care for our communities. With branches throughout the UK and into Europe, our people stretch to places far and wide.

We are very proud to be able to support a wonderful organisation in Leicestershire, providing learning and life skills training for people with a variety of disabilities, and of all ages, with its current community covering ages of 18 to 80!

WHM Work Connections was established by Liz Wells and Helen Sedgwick over 14 years ago as a project to support adults with disabilities by developing practical life and work skills to help them secure their own independence in society. After tremendous success with this, WHM has extended their support to educational learning for young adults and deploys a structured educational environment under the leadership of Sue Bennett who joined WHM early in 2025.

Today, WHM supports 160 workmates and over 40 students, providing practical skills and learning opportunities in real world settings; two working diary and arable farms and a horticultural nursery within the Leicestershire countryside.

AFC Europe has supported WHM with a donation of 14 laptops to help modernise the students digital experience and support their development of IT skills.

AFC Europe President, Morgan Burgoyne and Vice President of Marketing, Chris Billinge visited WHM to hand over the laptops and see first-hand the great work being done to care for and develop people with a wide variety of disabilities.

It was a humbling and inspirational experience and we are extremely proud to be able to support WHM in this way.
