Selbstsichernde Ringe sorgen für einen mechanischen Eingriff über eine kleine Lasche am Ring, die in eine entsprechende Nut in der gegenüberliegenden Windung einrastet und verhindert, dass sich der Ring aufgrund von Zentrifugalkräften bei hohen Drehzahlen aus der Nut ausdehnt.
